Corsica is an overnight passage by sailing yacht from the French mainland, which will take you into the port of Calvi to start your cruise in the “Ile de Beauté”. Alternatively, if you prefer to embark and disembark in Corsica itself, there are direct flights from London to Ajaccio and regular flights from Nice as well as a ferry service.

A flight into Olbia, Sardinia will take you straight to the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Boarding at Porto Rotundo enables you to take in the fabulous beaches around Porto Cervo and the Archipelago della Maddalena - known as the Polynesia of Italy for its crystal clear, turquoise waters. The short crossing to Corsica takes just over an hour and brings you to the stunning islets of Cavallo and Lavazzi en route to Bonifacio with its magnificent citadel.

Suggested Itinerary: Sailing the French Riviera and Corsica

Day 1: Board in Port Grimaud , French Riviera. Lunch on board before sailing in the Bay of St. Tropez . Depart for Corsica following an early supper at anchor.

Day 2: Arrive in Calvi early morning with a day to explore the cobbled streets and citadel of this charming port and its fabulous, four-mile long sandy beach .

Day 3: Calvi to Galeria, stopping along the way for swimming and lunch.

Day 4-6: Cruising in the Cape Girolata , Cape Porto and Piana Calanches area, nominated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding coastal and marine landscape. Visit the villages of Porto, Cargese and Piana, discover tranquil anchorages and explore hidden beaches.

Day 7: Return overnight from Piana to Port Grimaud.

Day 8: Breakfast at anchor in the Bay of St. Tropez before berthing in Port Grimaud for disembarkation.

Suggested Itinerary: Sailing Sardinia and Southern Corsica.

Day 1: Board in Porto Rotondo, Golfo Aranci.

Day 2: Cruising the Archipelago della Maddalena, a collection of some sixty granite islands and islets, only three of which are inhabited.

Day 3: Sail across to Corsica and into the amazing port of Bonifacio, perched high on the clifftops.

Day 4: Cruise along the western coast of Corsica to the stunning beach of Roccapina.

Day 5: Return southwards, sailing to the beautiful islands of Cavallo and Lavezzi with their characteristic smooth granite boulders.

Day 6: Lunch at Rondinara before sailing back to Santa Teresa Gallura in Sardinia.

Day 7: Enjoy the exclusive beaches of the Costa Smeralda and an evening in Porto Cervo.

Day 8: Return to Porto Rotondo for disembarkation.

Climate: The weather is warm and sunny throughout the summer, the hottest and dryest months being July and August with daytime temperatures of 28-35°C. May and June are slightly cooler and the nights are distinctly fresher, with the same being true of September and October. A sweater may be needed in the evenings at these times. The seas are generally calm with light winds, although the Mistral can blow strongly.
